The firm was established in 1924 when R. Stewart Clark began practicing in the Gummer Building at 5 Douglas Street, Guelph, Ontario. In 1934 he relocated to 16 Douglas Street in Guelph, where the firm remained until 1983. It then moved to its present location at 164 Norfolk Street, Guelph.
    Over the years other lawyers have contributed to the firm's identity and traditions. Mr. Clark, as well as later members of the firm, Henry R. Howitt and Kenneth Blair were appointed as judges. Alexander J. Moon and Joan E. Heath who joined the firm in 1953 and 1957, respectively, carried on the firm which today bears their names.
